Exploring Amsterdam's Yoga Scene: My Top 3 Studio Picks
As an avid yogi, I've had the opportunity to explore many of the yoga studios in Amsterdam over the last 2 years. In this article, I'm sharing my personal top 3 favourites that stand out for their unique atmosphere and experience they offer.
Svaha Yoga
Svaha is a haven for those looking for a traditional and immersive yoga experience. Being one of the oldest Vinyasa studios in the city, Svaha is possibly the most authentic studio you will find in Amsterdam.
With three convenient locations in Downtown, the Jordaan, and Nord, you'll be able to find a studio that works for you. My personal favorite is the Downtown Shala, as it is more spacious and is housed in a beautiful building.
What I love about Svaha:
Welcoming and friendly atmosphere, where people are approachable and kind
90-minute classes, starting with meditation, chanting and an inspiring talk from the teacher
Advanced vinyasa classes, where you can practice your headstands
Yoga for the community & free meditations
Delight yoga
Delight Yoga is an urban sanctuary, with a scandi-boho interior that is both calming and inviting. The studio has four locations in Amsterdam's most popular neighborhoods.
My personal favourite is the Prinseneiland studio, which is situated in a shala above the water, making it the perfect place to start or end your day with a beautiful sunrise or sunset yoga practice. With its amazing location and wide variety of classes, Delight Yoga is definitely worth checking out.
What I love about Delight:
75 minute classes
Next to yoga classes, they offer a wide variety of workshops and events
There are some very talented teachers, introducing also more playful styles of yoga
Spacious studios, allowing for ample room to move and practice comfortably
The White Door Studio
The White Door studio is aesthetically one of the most beautiful studios in Amsterdam.
The studio boasts a clean, minimalist design that exudes a sense of peace and tranquility. It is a great choice for anyone looking for a stylish and modern experience.
The crowd is hip, young, and trendy, as if they just stepped out of a retreat in Bali. It leaves you wondering where they all go after class.
What I love about the White Door studio:
Amazing interior design and attention to detail in everything
Unique and creative yoga experience with teachers who bring something different to the mat
A little shop at the entrance offering perfumes, incense, and other design pieces
The studio also hosts ceramics & painting workshops as well as beautiful ceremonies
Amsterdam is home to many amazing yoga studios - the three I've highlighted here are my personal top 3 as every time I leave these spaces, I feel recharged and inspired.
